Upward bound is a great program to be in. Sure, the whole idea of living with a group of complete strangers isn't the perfect idea of spending your summer, but within a week, you'll feel at home with a whole new group of friends. I will admit that I love to talk to people I don't know, so this was the perfect place for me. My favorite part of Upward Bound is classes. Sure, I may complain about getting up early and walking around before it's one o'clock in the afternoon, but classes have always been my favorite part of Upward Bound.
The counselors here are both fun, and nice, both sane and eccentric. All in all, Upward Bound is the best, and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Dress Codes in Schools
A lot of schools now-a-days have switched to a dress code. Their reason? Well, they believe that us kids judge on clothing, and, I will sadly admit, that it's true. But will that really stop bullying for those who would have worn "crudey" clothes? No, no it won't. A dress code will do nothing but portray the school as a "preppy" and- as some people would say- "snobby" school. Now, that's not true, but like I've stated before, people judge others by their clothing.
So why not just let us wear our own style of clothing? Many people express themselves through their clothing. When you get out of high school, you won't have to dress like everyone else, so why do it in high school? Sure, having your clothing already picked out would give you extra time in the morning, but isn't the hunt the best part of the morning? You know, going around searching for that striped sock or hot pink cardigan.
In simple terms, clothing is a way of expressing one's self. We're living in a world full of creativity, and clothing might just be a positive way to express that creative self.
